Super Cruise is the first true hands-free driving assistance technology for compatible roads. Now this technology takes a step forward, making it easier to use due to Lane Change on Demand, offered on select 2021-2024 Super Cruise-equipped vehicles, not including 2022 and 2023 XT6 models.

Additionally, this technology is available on 2021 and 2022 Cadillac vehicles and will also be eligible for Super Cruise upgrades for owners to add additional functions such as Automatic Lane Change and Trailering to their existing Super Cruise technology.

So how does this extraordinary technology work? Automatic Lane Change technology enables Super Cruise to detect when a lane change is optimal and it initiates the maneuver, while still following signaling lane change protocols as if you were initiating the change yourself. Meanwhile, the Super Cruise Trailering technology provides a driver with an opportunity to pull a trailer, boat, camper, or more while using the hands-free technology.

Super Cruise works on compatible roads, and with the advent of hands-free technology there are over 34 million miles of roads that the technology has driven on, and the numbers increase all the time.

How Does Super Cruise Work?

Under the proper conditions with an attentive driver at the wheel, the driving experience is enhanced through Super Cruise. This technology allows a hands-free driving experience because of sophisticated Adaptive Cruise Control that utilizes sensors, real-time positioning, LIDAR map data, and cameras to scan the road ahead. This process detects every curve and vehicle on the road ahead of you and, using the special cruise control with the parameters you set, adjusts speed and distance accordingly to help avoid accidents. Super Cruise is supported for three years with connectivity. Following this time frame, the connectivity that allows for Super Cruise must be purchased on a plan.
